I have been entertaining a mad craving for a battered, fried pork chop for the last 3 months - so much so that I created a Nextdoor post about it. One of my neighbors responded and raved about this place so I decided to give it a try. Interior / Exterior They're located in an older strip mall on Powder Springs Rd - private parking lot - right across the street from Dollar Tree as you head towards the square. If you hit Kastaways, you come too far. The interior of the restaurant is sparse, but clean. Customer Service The hit it out of the park on this one! Upon entering the establishment, I was enthusiastically greeted by a cute, tiny little lady - Miss Taneka (Miss Pat's daughter). She took my order and told me a little about their history. Miss Pat always loved cooking for family and friends ... and dreamed of having her own restaurant - and after she retired - they decided to make her dream come true! They've been at their location for 3 years (as of Feb 2022). After my second visit, I felt like we were old friends. Lol. We bonded over our love of Southern food and small fluffy dugs (I'm a 'Pom Mom' and she's a Yorky Lady) and fear of bats (don't ask - see my other reviews). I didn't get to meet Miss Pat (one of the Chefs / cooks AND the restaurant's namesake) until today and let me just say, "The apple did not fall very far from the tree!" Miss Pat was super sweet as well. We had a bit of mishap with the ribs from our previous visit. I wasn't able to reach them before closing Sat, so I messaged them. They close early on Sunday and are closed all day Monday, but they told me to come back in - satisfaction guaranteed! I went back today - Miss Pat and Miss Taneka could not have been more sweet, accommodating and gracious. Kay (Miss Pat's son, also one of the cooks and the Grillmaster) was a little brusque, but most chefs are like that. Lol. Price / Affordability I think the prices are very affordable - especially during the pandemic. If I'd realized that my pork chop meal came with one pork chop, I would have asked whether I could add another on, but I'm greedy when it comes to meat. Lol. Most dinners are $12 - $15, ribs cost more. They also have some $6.99 lunch specials. Food They have chicken, pork chops, BBQ, turkey wings, chitterlings (aka chitlins), oxtails and seafood (catfish, tilapia, whiting, shrimp). They also have a dizzying array of vegetables to choose from. In deference to many people's dietary restrictions , they don't heavily season the vegetables or use pork for flavoring. I love sautéd or 'fried' cabbage (I could eat it every day) and green beans, but they gotta have a little dash of bacon fat or chicken bouillon to jazz 'em up. On my initial visit, I ordered a pork chop meal (1 fried pork chop, french fries, mac & cheese, omitted the bread). I also ordered a slab of ribs. My macaroni & cheese was good, but it was a bit odd in that it was a single layer of mac & cheese. My french fries were dropped before grease was hot enough, so they were oily and limp - but that was fine - I didn't eat them so it saved me additional fat and calories. When I went back, I got pork chops, green beans, rice, gravy and corn muffins. The pork chops were outstanding both times. Seasoned perfectly, crispy coating outside, tender inside! I don't eat rice, gravy or cornbread (unless it's the deep South pancake style), so I'll let you know what J thinks later tonight. Overall I like this spot. There's a lot of variety on the menu and the customer service alone will keep me coming back!
